In 1960 Dior commissioned Paul Vacher to create a fragrance of presence and power, yet one of the utmost refinement. In 1963, he created Diorling, a scent entirely based on leather. Paul Vacher demonstrated his genius with the creation of an olfactory leather bag. A ladies' handbag, an exquisitely luxurious companion, as soft as the skin on the wearer's neck, an imaginary, cream-colored, handcrafted leather creation. But Paul Vacher was already an established name in the world of leather fragrances. In 1931, he created Scandal for Lanvin, which is still considered a masterpiece of modern perfumery.
