With the perfume Fruit de Bois, Jean-Charles Brosseau aimed to give traditional woody fragrance notes a new form. For some, this fragrance composition evoked memories of the staircase of a house in Anjou, of school desks, or of the wood of a pencil. Others recalled the damp wood of the forest in autumn or boats in the harbor. The fragrance opens fruitily with accents of grapefruit, bergamot, and gentian. These are followed by floral notes with spices. The base note is characterized by woody notes of vetiver, cedar, and sandalwood.
